24 July 2010 - Lava Tube Caves in Oregon
Today Grandma took all of the cousins out to a Lava Tube cave. These are bizzare caves that were formed a long time ago when hot lava was flowing. As rivers of lava moved along the edges of the river began to cool and become solid rock but the centre of the lava river kept flowing. As the river became empty a long tube or cave was formed. We walked for more than 1mile down a lava tube cave - it is very dark, and dirty and also very cool which is a nice way to spend a day when it is hot outside. After the Lava Tube cave adventure we went to Sunriver which is south of Bend and had an icecream cone which always makes for a nice day. Once more day in Bend Oregon and then we start making our way back to Denver Colorado and then back to Australia
