One of the best parts about camping up at Elk Lake was getting out on the water and paddling around. Uncle Eric and Grandpa brought up all their boats which included 3 kayaks and 2
canoes. The picture shows grandpa out in his
kayak with our little cousin Derek who is in the second kayak. Derek was pretty amazing - he could paddle that little blue kayak all by himself and pretty much go where ever he wanted. We were able to paddle both boats by ourselves. In fact, at the end of the camping trip Isaac paddled the little blue kayak across the entire lake all by himself - piece of cake. Lucky for us the water was warm enough that if we fell out of the boat we would be able to swim to shore pretty easily. We also had a great race that included canoeing and water gun shooting and running, river crossing over logs and even some horse shoes. Unfortunately, the girls team was given the fast green canoe for the race and the boys team had to paddle the silver slug - needless to say the girls team won. I hope they enjoy the win because next time the boys are going for the green bullet.
